Lebanese 2013 Elections: Ballot Papers Display Religious Beliefs

Image

A sample ballot paper released by the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities.

You know, there is nothing more important for me as a citizen to see other than the the religious beliefs of the candidates I vote for. Can we include their favorite ice cream flavor and what they had for breakfast on the ballot paper as-well? I also wanna see whether they prefer Haifa Wehbeh over Nancy Ajram; please include that too.

I know that the Lebanese system is sectarian, but this is just too sad (and yet we wonder what is wrong with the country..).

The candidate’s religious beliefs are so important that we even put them on the ballot papers. Very sexy what we have here.

Final Note: I hope the Lebanese would not do the same mistake of electing the sectarian March 8 & 14 parties again, and open a space for great independent secular candidates (see the Take Back Parliament movement). We have our chance. Let’s take it. Vote smart, for every single vote counts.
