Religion

On Haifa and Religious Labels

I was taking a Taxi ride in Beirut when the dashboard got my attention:

The Taxi

As you can see, there is a picture of the Lebanese pop icon Haifa Wehbi behind the wheel, just near a small Quran.

I personally love this.

This is a live proof on how people could understand the same religion in different ways. You could label yourself as a Muslim and not believe in the Hijab. You could label yourself as a Christian and be a gay person. Heck, you could label yourself as a Buddhist and not be a vegetarian. No-one could simply stop you from self-identifying with any religion whatsoever.

In the end, not all Muslims are alike and not all Christians are the same.  It’s not the religion that matters, it’s you as a person. Unfortunately, this might be hard for some people to swallow. In reality, this is a very simple idea that’s probably too simple to even blog about.
